An honest answer

Is pizza tacky at a wedding?

People genuinely worry about this, usually after someone else raises an eyebrow. Here is a straight answer.

No, and the reason has less to do with pizza than with how it is served. What reads as cheap is food that arrives in a stack of delivery boxes and sits going cold on a folding table. That is a delivery order, not catering.

A wood-fired oven at a wedding is a different thing entirely. The oven is a piece of equipment people gather around. The fire is lit before guests arrive, pizzas come out roughly ninety seconds apart, and the cooking is visible for the whole reception. Guests treat it as part of the entertainment. It is closer to a raw bar or a carving station than to a takeaway.

Where it genuinely works well

Where it is a harder fit

The practical objection worth taking seriously is not taste, it is logistics. A wood oven needs somewhere to stand, clearance from the tent, and in most jurisdictions fire marshal approval. That is our job, not yours.
